The Border and Legal Boundaries

Am I upset about Judge Bolton’s ruling on SB1070? Of course. I’m no lawyer, but I believe this is one of those cases where the common sense behind the law has fallen victim to legal reasoning.

However, where I believe this is a setback for Arizona- albeit a minor and temporary one- I believe this will benefit those other states looking to enact a version of this law. Much to the chagrin of anti-anti-illegal immigration advocates, the judge’s ruling seems to have very clearly framed out the acceptable legal boundaries for future laws (including here in Arizona, where I suspect the next legislature will propose similar measures that fit within that framework).
